The Sinterklaas turnover is breaking records in the Netherlands. Apparently he is not willing to give in to the recession. Last 3 weeks 170 million euro’s was spent on gifts online (31% more than last year) and the retailers expect and increase of 490 million euro’s extra sales compared to last year. Isn’t this incredible? Also in France there are long traffic jams to enter shopping malls. It is as if people are thinking to spend their money on gifts rather than lose it because of bankrupt banks.
