The 100 years old “Dolto” method of education is hot news in France. Françoise Dolto died 20 years ago, but her methods are still educated and used by parents and teachers. Her theory can be compared to that of Dr. Spock. She was very famous in the sixties and seventies when she advised a lot of parents through weekly radio and TV programs. Françoise Dolto’s method has followers and enemies. That is completely logical to me. All children are so different and it is my belief that one method does not work for everybody and also not all the time.  Children go through different phases and parents need to follow their instincts to know what is the best raising method. The biggest problem is the parents, because so little parents know how to listen to their instincts. They just repeat how their parents raised them, or copy others. Being a good parent means lifelong training in listening to yourself and reacting in a conscious way.
